Berry Insurance is Helping Our Troops Stay in Touch with Loved Ones

Written by Kaitlyn Pintarich | Feb 24, 2010 8:40:00 PM

Berry Insurance has teamed up with American Legion Post 72 of Southington, Connecticut and Computer Science Corporation (CSC) to support our troops serving overseas.

Laptops For Troops was started by Stephen Pintarich. Steve, an employee of CSC and past Commander of American Legion Post 72, is an Army veteran, so he knows firsthand how important it is to troop morale to hear from loved ones at home.

CSC donates all the laptops to Post 72, who helps raise funds to add web cameras and then ships them to deployed service members. American Legion Post 72 and CSC have already donated over 100 laptops to troops serving overseas in combat zones!

In addition, Post 72 has partnered with Radio Shack to get discounted prices for the webcams being added to the laptops. In total, the cost to buy the web camera and ship the equipment overseas costs only $40.

How You Can Help
Since CSC is donating all the laptops for this cause, we’re simply asking for your contributions to help pay for the cost of the web cameras and shipping fees. For every $40 donation, we’re able to send one web camera equipped laptop to a service member in need!  If you give $40 or more, we will recognize your name or your company’s name along with the laptop.

We are also looking for names of service members to send laptops to. While Berry Insurance has partnered with American Legion Post 72 of Connecticut for this cause, this event is open to all U.S. military. The only requirements are that the service member has more than two months of duty overseas and when they return home, they give the laptop to another U.S. service member stationed overseas.

Donations can be sent to Berry Insurance. Please make checks payable to “American Legion Post 72” and reference “Laptops 4 Troops” in the memo of your check. Names and addresses of servicemen and women can be emailed to berry247@berryinsurance.com.
