Berry Insurance’s 8 Core Values

Team Berry Insurance | Team Berry Insurance | Berry Insurance General/Culture

If you’re considering a role at Berry Insurance (or just want to learn a little more about us), you’re in the right place. Our values aren’t just something we print on a poster or plaster all over our website (although they are on a poster at everyone’s desks) – They’re the foundation of how we work, interact, make decisions, and grow as a team.

We call it the Team Berry Manifesto: eight values that shape our culture and guide every experience with our team and clients.

So what are those values? And more importantly, how do they show up in our culture every day?

Let’s break them down.

Table of Contents:

1. Do more
2. Grow
3. Celebrate
4. Educate
5. Communicate
6. Commit
7. Create
8. Have fun
Want to work somewhere that lives these values?

1. Do more

This one comes first for a reason. Around here, we do more – for our clients, teammates, community, and selves.

To us, “do more” means being proactive instead of reactive. It means solving problems before they happen. It means advocating for clients and anticipating their needs.

For example, our account managers go above and beyond to analyze each individual client’s circumstances to ensure they have the right coverage for them - not just some standard policy. We also create content to educate our clients, and send hand-written cards on special occasions.

You’ll also find it in how our team members take ownership of projects, support coworkers without being asked, and genuinely care about creating the best possible experience for everyone.

2. Grow

We’re big believers in both personal and professional growth here. In fact, we built it into our culture on purpose.

No one here is expected to have all the answers. Instead, we foster an environment where asking questions, seeking feedback, and trying new things is encouraged.

In addition to CE credits to maintain licensure, each team member is expected to participate in courses, read books, listen to podcasts - really anything that will help them develop personally and professionally.

Everyone in our company considers themselves educators. And to be an educator, you have to constantly be learning, yourself. And feedback is a critical tool for learning and growth, so it is something we embrace as a company.

And this feedback culture is pervasive even through upper management. Our owners Kaitlyn and Chris are constantly requesting feedback on how we can work better as a team, and how they can better run the organization.

We’ve all made mistakes (who hasn’t?). What matters is what you do next - own it, learn from it, and keep moving forward. That’s growth.

3. Celebrate

Wins are meant to be shared and we make a point to celebrate all of them.

Did someone pass a tough licensing exam? We’re cheering. Did someone have a personal success? We’re cheering just as hard. Did you just survive your first month on the job and finally remember which drawer the pens are in? That’s a win in our book.

No matter the size of a victory, we’re always sure to celebrate, whether it be on Microsoft Teams or our recognition software Bucketlist, during our morning meetings, or with a party or gift.

These small moments of recognition help us stay connected, motivated, and reminded of how much we accomplish together.

4. Educate

We're educators first, insurance agents second.

Whether we’re walking a first-time homebuyer through the basics or writing a blog about what to expect from a cyber insurance policy, we’re here to help people understand what they’re buying and why it matters.

This value drives our entire marketing strategy (have you seen our content library?). It’s also behind our willingness to take extra time on calls, write follow-up emails in plain language, and send out valuable content to help clients feel empowered about their insurance decisions.

Internally, education plays a big role too. Team members frequently teach each other new things, share a tip on our Tip Tuesday themed morning meetings, and help newer employees navigate systems and processes. Everyone teaches and everyone learns.

5. Communicate

Whether we’re updating a client about a claim or providing feedback during a team meeting, we focus on transparency. If something’s going well, we say it. If something needs improvement, we talk about it openly and constructively.

We believe communication is the glue that holds everything else together. Without it, great ideas get lost, misunderstandings grow, and trust erodes.

That’s why we make it a priority to communicate early and often—with clients, with each other, and across departments. We don’t assume people know what’s happening; we make sure they do.

We do this through regular check-ins, department meetings, and company-wide updates to keep everyone up to date and on the same page.

6. Commit

At Berry Insurance, commitment means showing up fully for our clients, our team, our community, and ourselves.

We commit to clients by simplifying the complex and always advocating for their best interests. We commit to each other by being accountable, reliable, and supportive. We commit to our community by giving back through time, donations, and local involvement. And we commit to ourselves by always striving to grow, improve, and lead with integrity.

7. Create

Insurance might not be the first industry that comes to mind when you think “creative,” but at Berry, innovation is essential to how we evolve.

We’re constantly improving our processes, rethinking old habits, and testing new ideas.

Creativity also means finding better ways to serve our clients: creating content that answers real questions, building visual aids to simplify complex concepts, or developing internal tools to streamline tasks.

We also have a marketing department whose entire role revolves around creativity, whether it be through articles, guides, videos, social media, emails, and community events. They’re always working together to keep things fresh and interesting.

8. Have fun

Fun is part of our daily experience, whether it’s a group lunch, a play session with the office dogs, the filming of a silly marketing video, a murder mystery party (yes, we’ve done it twice), or just some laughs during our morning meetings.

We strongly believe that if you enjoy going to your job every day, you’ll be all-around happier and produce better work as a result, so we make sure fun is a priority.
